Overview

Connecting MemBridge to Claude allows you to save and retrieve memories directly from your conversations. Once configured, you can tell Claude to “remember” information and access it across all chat sessions.
  • Time required: 3-5 minutes
  • Platforms: claude.ai (web) and Claude Desktop app
  • Prerequisites: A MemBridge account (free plan available)

Step-by-Step Setup

Step 1: Access Connector Settings

Open Claude Settings

Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner of Claude (claude.ai or Claude Desktop app).

Navigate to Connectors

In the settings menu, select “Connectors” from the sidebar. You’ll see a list of currently configured connectors and an option to add new ones.

Step 2: Add MemBridge Custom Connector

Click 'Add custom connector'

At the bottom of the connectors list, click the “Add custom connector” button.

Enter MemBridge Server URL

In the URL field, enter the following MemBridge MCP server URL:
https://api.membridge.ai/mcp
Make sure to include https:// and the full path. The URL must be entered exactly as shown.

Click 'Add' or 'Connect'

Click the button to initiate the connection process.

Step 3: Authenticate with MemBridge

After adding the connector, Claude will initiate the authentication process:

Redirect to MemBridge Sign-In

You’ll be redirected to the MemBridge authentication page in your browser.

Sign In or Create Account

Existing users: Enter your email and password to sign in.New users: Click “Create Account” and follow the registration process. The free plan includes:
  • 50 memories
  • 10 accesses per day
  • All core features

Authorize Connection

Review the permissions requested by Claude and click “Authorize” or “Allow” to grant access.
MemBridge will request permission to read and write your memories. This is necessary for Claude to save and retrieve information on your behalf.

Return to Claude

After successful authentication, you’ll be redirected back to Claude. The connection is now established.

Step 4: Verify Connection

Confirm that MemBridge is connected and working:

Check Connector Status

Go back to Settings → Connectors and verify that MemBridge appears in your list of connected servers with an active status.

Test the Connection

In a new or existing conversation, try saving a test memory:
Use MemBridge to remember that my favorite color is blue.
Claude should use MemBridge to save this information. You can verify by asking:
Use MemBridge to check: What's my favorite color?
If Claude correctly recalls “blue,” MemBridge is working!

Step 5: Configure Tool Permissions (Optional)

You can control which MemBridge tools Claude can use:

Open Connector Settings

Go to Settings → Connectors and click on the MemBridge connector.

Review Available Tools

You’ll see a list of MemBridge tools:
  • create_record - Save new memories
  • retrieve_record - Get a specific memory
  • update_record - Edit existing memories
  • delete_record - Remove memories
  • list_records - View all memories

Enable/Disable Tools

Toggle individual tools on or off based on your preferences. By default, all tools are enabled.
It’s recommended to keep all tools enabled for the best experience. Disabling tools may limit Claude’s ability to manage your memories effectively.

Using MemBridge in Claude

Once connected, you can use MemBridge in your conversations by explicitly mentioning it:

Saving Memories

Tell Claude to use MemBridge to save information:
Use MemBridge to remember that I use Next.js 14 with TypeScript and Tailwind CSS for all my projects.

Use MemBridge to remember I'm allergic to shellfish.

Use MemBridge to save this note: Meeting with the design team scheduled for next Tuesday at 2 PM.

Retrieving Memories

Ask Claude to use MemBridge to recall information:
Use MemBridge to check what you know about my tech stack.

Use MemBridge to check my dietary restrictions.

Use MemBridge to show me my saved notes about the design meeting.

Managing Memories

You can update or delete memories through conversation:
Use MemBridge to update my tech stack memory: I now use Next.js 15.

Use MemBridge to delete the memory about the design meeting.

Use MemBridge to delete all memories related to the old project.
It’s recommended to explicitly mention “MemBridge” or “use MemBridge” in your requests to ensure Claude reliably uses the MemBridge tools.

Troubleshooting

Possible causes:
  • The URL was entered incorrectly
  • Your browser blocked the authentication popup
  • Network connectivity issues
Solutions:
  1. Verify the URL is exactly: https://api.membridge.ai/mcp
  2. Check if your browser has popup blockers enabled
  3. Try adding the connector again
  4. Restart Claude (if using Claude Desktop)
Possible causes:
  • Browser cookies are disabled
  • Authentication popup was closed prematurely
  • Account credentials are incorrect
Solutions:
  1. Enable cookies in your browser settings
  2. Try the authentication process again, allowing it to complete fully
  3. If creating a new account, check your email for verification
  4. Reset your password if you’ve forgotten it
Possible causes:
  • Connection was not fully established
  • MemBridge tools are disabled in permissions
  • You’ve exceeded your daily usage limit (Free plan: 10 accesses/day)
Solutions:
  1. Go to Settings → Connectors and check MemBridge status
  2. Ensure all necessary tools are enabled in connector settings
  3. Check your usage in the MemBridge dashboard
  4. Wait until midnight UTC for usage to reset, or upgrade to Pro plan
Possible causes:
  • API rate limits reached
  • Incorrect authentication state
  • Service temporary unavailability
Solutions:
  1. Try disconnecting and reconnecting MemBridge
  2. Log in to the MemBridge dashboard to verify your memories
  3. Check if you can manually create/view memories in the dashboard
  4. If issues persist, contact support with details about the error
To remove the MemBridge connection:
  1. Go to Settings → Connectors
  2. Find MemBridge in your connector list
  3. Click the remove/disconnect button (usually a trash icon or “Remove” button)
  4. Confirm the disconnection
Disconnecting MemBridge from Claude does not delete your memories. They remain safely stored in your MemBridge account and can be accessed from the web dashboard or other connected AI tools.
